To say Pittsburgh Steelers kicker Chris Boswell had an atrocious 2018 would be sugar coating it. Coming off his first Pro Bowl selection in 2017, Boswell was rewarded with a four year $16.8 million extension. The extension included a $6 million signing bonus. The amount of dead money that would have come due was thought to have been the primary reason the Steelers did not jettison him during a season where Boswell connected on just 65% of his field goal attempts. The percentage was the worst of any kicker in the NFL who played in at least 15 games by over 11% and 32% behind league-leading Robbie Gould.
