Penguins sign Rust to six-year contract extension

Bryan Rust said during Tuesday's locker room cleanout day that he "wasn't looking to rob anyone" in negotiations for his new contract for next season.

"I just want what I deem is a fair and reasonable contract and I'd like to think something's going to get worked out here," he said.

He didn't have to wait long for that to happen.

The Penguins and Rust agreed on Saturday to a six-year contract that is reportedly just north of $30 million. The deal runs through the 2027-28 season and carries an average annual value of just over $5 million.
