LAS VEGAS -- The Penguins couldn't really explain why so much went so wrong during the first period of their game against the Golden Knights at T-Mobile Arena Monday night.
Perhaps that's because there aren't really words to express how poorly they played during those 20 minutes, while spotting Vegas a 3-0 lead.
If that wasn't their worst period of 2021-22, it surely was a medalist.
Jeff Carter, though, found it rather easy to describe why they were able to transform what was shaping up to be an utterly demoralizing defeat into perhaps their most exhilarating victory of the season.
