BOSTON -- The Penguins added Evgeni Malkin to the NHL's COVID-19 protocol list Monday morning, Ron Hextall announced.
The team recalled forwards Valtteri Puustinen and Michael Chaput from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in a subsequent move.
The NHL did stop the testing of asymptomatic players following the All-Star break, but there was one final round of testing of players and staff upon their return from the break.
Malkin was producing at over a point-per-game rate since returning from offseason knee surgery on Jan. 11, scoring five goals and eight assists in 12 games.
