With veteran punter Cameron Johnston lost for the season following a knee injury suffered on a punt in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s 18-10 win over the Atlanta Falcons, the Pitsburgh Steelers are bringing back a familiar face to handle the punting duties.
According to a report from NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero, the Steelers are planning to sign veteran punter Corliss Waitman.
Waitman spent the 2020 season on the Steelers’ practice squad after being signed as an undrafted free agent out of South Alabama. He was waived at the end of training camp and landed on the practice squad, and then signed a Reserve/Futures deal in January of 2021.
