Once rejected Steelers corners take edge to Bengals: 'We were nobody's first pick'

PITTSBURGH -- The Steelers’ cornerback lineup features a player that didn’t survive the first round of cuts in Buffalo (Ross Cockrell), an undrafted free agent (Antwon Blake), a corner acquired in a trade that rarely plays (Brandon Boykin) and a veteran who was released by the Cardinals in 2013 (William Gay).

That’s not counting safety Will Allen, who was cut by the Cowboys and has spent much of his 12-year career as a utility safety, not a full-time starter.

“We were nobody’s first pick,” Cockrell said. "At least for me."

Yet here are the Steelers cornerbacks, coming off what Cockrell says was the best practice day of communication yet, with Cockrell himself getting his hands on a pick-six.
