Lorenzo Freeman, a defensive line coach with the Plum High School football team and a former player for the University of Pittsburgh and for the Steelers, was found dead Monday in his New Kensington home. He was 52.
“He apparently died in his sleep,” said Plum coach Matt Morgan, who told his players of the loss after they arrived for practice.
“They were pretty much torn apart,” Mr. Morgan said of his players after canceling the practice. “We wouldn’t have gotten much done at practice after this. So we sent them home.”
Mr. Freeman was in his third year as a Plum assistant, but he also spent a number of years as an assistant at Valley and a few other Western Pennsylvania schools.
