ST. LOUIS -- On Tuesday, the Pirates will officially announce that they have signed Ke’Bryan Hayes to an eight-year, $70 million contract, the largest deal in the franchise’s history.
This deal has been a couple years in the making, with talks happening on and off from 2020 until this past Thursday. For Hayes, he was always open to a long-term deal because he believes in what the Pirates are building and wants to be along for the long haul.
"From the get-go when I got drafted, that was one of my main goals, to debut with the team that drafted me and play my whole career there,” Hayes said on Thursday.
