Soon after the legal tampering period began this week, the Pittsburgh Steelers signed quarterback Mitchell Trubisky. Let’s get right to it and look at some data for his career, starting with Expected Points Added (EPA) and Completion Percentage Over Expected (CPOE) from nflfastR:
As we can see, Trubisky is below the mean in both datapoints in his career, with most of his time with the Chicago Bears leaving much to be desired. With time backing quarterback Josh Allen in Buffalo last season, it will be interesting (if he is the starter for Pittsburgh in 2022) what kind of trend we see in the data, which to this point is very telling.
