Marcus Gilbert has 'significant' elbow injury, but he insists he's playing Week 1

Steelers right tackle Marcus Gilbert said he has a “significant” elbow injury that requires a second opinion from famed surgeon Dr. James Andrews, but he said this afternoon after practice that the injury won’t keep him from playing in the season opener at Washington in two weeks.

Gilbert hyperextended his left elbow during the preseason game in New Orleans Friday night. He did not go into detail about the damage in his elbow, but he said he will be able to play in spite of it.

“It is significant, but I’m going to have to push through it,” Gilbert said.
