The new league year hasn’t even started yet, but the Pittsburgh Steelers are already making fireworks. Reportedly, they have agreed to terms on a trade, acquiring WR DK Metcalf from the Seattle Seahawks. The terms include the Steelers sending the Seahawks their second-round pick and swaps of late-round selections. In addition to compensating Seattle, Pittsburgh is also signing Metcalf to a five-year, $150 million contract.
This is quite aggressive by the Steelers’ historical standards, but you can imagine why. They haven’t won a playoff game since 2016, and part of the reason is because they have allowed shortcomings to stand.
