For those of you who have been paying even a moderate amount of attention to the Alliance of American Football so far this NFL offseason and my coverage of it, you probably have a pretty good sense of how the Birmingham Iron is doing. They had the opportunity to virtually ensure a playoff berth yesterday, but ended up losing in a historic heartbreaker.
Visiting the bottom-feeding Memphis Express as they tried to secure their fifth win in seven games, the Iron ultimately gave way in the end, leading by eight points late. But the Express’ third-string quarterback drove on them to tie the game with seconds to spare.
