Joe Starkey: How about some Adele-like do-overs in Pittsburgh sports?

Humanity, a commodity in short supply these days, made a guest appearance Sunday at the Grammy Awards, when Adele stopped in the middle of unintentionally butchering a tribute song to the late George Michael.

She swore. She apologized profusely. She seemed genuinely anguished.

“I’m sorry,” she said. “I can’t mess this up for him.”

How very human of her. And how very human of the crowd to rise in support of her, as if to say, “It’s OK. We all make mistakes. We’re with you!” Which sure beats “Lock her up!” or “Build that wall!”

So she started over, nailed it and broke into tears.
