It’s not surprising that so many people speak of iconic broadcasters Myron Cope and Bob Prince as if they knew them.
In a way, they did.
Sportscasters, like musicians, become the soundtracks of our lives. They used to, anyway. I don’t know if it’s still true. But they used to be ever-present in our living rooms — or wherever we had a TV or radio — hanging out or maybe providing the voice we would later attach to life-altering moments.
They were part of the family.
