Wow. That word leapt from my lips when I saw what Steelers president Art Rooney II said Wednesday during his annual season-ending media scrum.
I always thought the Steelers held themselves to a different standard. A higher standard. Particularly on defense.
They pretty much invented the art of dominant defense in the Super Bowl era, right? Steel Curtain and all?
Now it almost sounds as if Rooney is throwing up his hands in the wake of a pinball-machine Super Bowl, which came three weeks after nobody was held accountable for the most embarrassing defensive performance in the Steelers’ long and illustrious postseason history (Tebow included).
