The Steelers made it official Thursday, announcing Randy Fichtner as their offensive coordinator, replacing Todd Haley.
Fichtner, who has been the team’s quarterback coach the past eight seasons, will also remain in that position as well as run the offense.
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported Wednesday the Steelers had decided to promote Fichtner, an original member of Mike Tomlin’s coaching staff, to offensive coordinator.
Haley was not offered a new contract after serving six seasons as offensive coordinator.
“I want to thank Coach Tomlin and Art Rooney II for giving me the opportunity to be the offensive coordinator for this organization,” Fichtner said in a statement released by the team.
