As if the skirmish between Washington Commanders TE John Bates and Pittsburgh Steelers’ LB Patrick Queen wasn’t violent enough, things have escalated in the last day or two since the Steelers’ 28-27 win over the Commanders.
In the win over Washington, Queen got into it with Bates after a play as the two both went to the ground and a skirmish broke out. Ultimately, Bates lost his helmet and the two were hit with offsetting unsportsmanlike conduct penalties.
After the game, Bates said he believes Queen was trying to do something dirty.
“I would say something like that has never really happened to me,” Bates said via the Commanders’ website.
