The region’s major sports venues have been cited for hundreds of food safety violations in the past year. They’re also, regulators say, probably among the safer places to get a meal on a night out.
A Post-Gazette study found that Heinz Field food locations have since last September been cited by the Allegheny County Health department for 102 total violations, 19 of which were classified as high risk. PNC Park has been slapped with 43 total and 11 high risk violations since May. PPG Paints Arena has accrued 25 — 12 high risk — since last October. And Petersen Events Center has been flagged 30 times — 10 for high risk violations — since February.
