Phase One of the offseason program has been in motion for a few days now, and the Pittsburgh Steelers have had one theme tying the early portion of the in-facility work: high attendance rates. That shouldn’t be a great surprise, however, given the circumstances, as this is a roster that feels it has a lot to prove both on and off the field after missing the postseason and then being made a laughingstock in the offseason.
The most prominent player in attendance is quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who also doesn’t seem at all phased by the fact that contract negotiations for a new deal as he heads into the final season of his current agreement don’t appear to be moving along.
