Steelers tight end Ladarius Green is dealing with recurring headaches that are preventing him from practicing with his new team, a source confirmed to the Post-Gazette's Ed Bouchette on Thursday.
Green, 26, signed a four-year, $20 million contract in March but has not practiced with the team. When asked Wednesday how Green was progressing from offseason ankle surgery, coach Mike Tomlin said simply, "He's on PUP," meaning the physically unable to perform list.
The tight end was signed to replace Heath Miller, who retired after an 11-year career with the Steelers. Green, who played in San Diego last year, also was expected to play a major role in the passing game in the absence of Martavis Bryant, suspended this season for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy.
