The Steelers will be without the player who takes up their biggest salary cap room when they meet the Arizona Cardinals. Ben Roethlisberger’s knee has not healed enough.
The player who represents their third-largest cap hit, however, will take Heinz Field today because linebacker LaMarr Woodley starts for Arizona.
Woodley, 30, still counts $8.58 million against the Steelers salary cap, even though he is with his second team since they cut him in March 2014. He played just six games last season for the Oakland Raiders because of a torn biceps. They released him this year, and he signed with the Cardinals in March.
