On Super Bowl Sunday, one day after he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Kevin Greene saw Steelers chairman Dan Rooney and team president Art Rooney II at a function before the game. It was then that the former Steelers outside linebacker asked the Rooneys if he could come back to Pittsburgh for his ring ceremony at Heinz Field.
It’s not unusual for the Steelers to honor their Hall of Famers with ceremonies during games at Heinz Field. They did it last year for Jerome Bettis. But it does say something about what the Rooney family thinks of Greene for them to oblige when he spent only three of his 15 NFL seasons with the team.
