SAN FRANCISCO
The microphone in the right hand of a Seattle radio guy bore in on Bill Cowher as though it had a nose hair-trimmer attachment, but the old coach didn’t so much as flinch.
It was the first microphone of the first day of Super Bowl week, and it was coming from way, way back.
“Back home, people still talk about the officiating in that game,” said the interviewer as his follow-up to a question about Super Bowl XXX. “Does that bother you at all?”
And then about one one-hundredth of a second passed.
“No, not at all,” Cowher said sharply.
