Before we even get into the actual play of newly signed DB Arthur Maulet, there’s one clear theme with his background: Versatility. The Steelers could use depth at slot corner. They could use depth at outside corner. They could use depth at free safety. Maulet, on paper, is capable of filling any of those needs. He’s better in some areas than others but he’s a cheap, chess piece, similar to what the team was trying to accomplish with seventh-round rookie Tre Norwood.
Even with just a cursory look at his tape, let’s look at all the ways Maulet has been used in his past two seasons with the New York Jets.
