Film Room: ‘Nasty Nate’ Herbig Brings Mean Mentality Steelers Are Searching For In The Trenches

Coming into the offseason ahead of the 2023 season, the Pittsburgh Steelers certainly wanted to add size and strength in the trenches. After inking veteran interior offensive lineman Nate Herbig to a two-year, $8 million deal Tuesday, considering it mission accomplished for GM Omar Khan and assistant GM Andy Weidl.

It’s a move with clear familiarity from Weidl’s perspective as Herbig was an undrafted free agent in Philadelphia who started 17 games over three seasons for the Eagles from 2019-21 while Weidl was in the front office. Following at three-year stint, Herbig spent the 2022 season with the New York Jets and started 12 games for Gang Green at right guard.
