The Steelers stripped their secondary of three veterans and $6.8 million from their salary cap when they cut Mike Mitchell, William Gay and Robert Golden this past week.
So it’s obvious that finding a safety is now a top priority, or is it?
They may indeed sign a veteran safety and/or draft one, but their No. 1 overall need remains an inside linebacker and that will be filled through the draft. There remains one large hole on their defense, and they absolutely must fill it.
Vince Williams was a good complement as the buck inside linebacker to Ryan Shazier’s mack.
