Remember the 135 consecutive games played in streak that former Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback put together? It really was quite impressive, but believe it, or not, cornerback William Gay is very close to breaking it.
Gay, who was drafted by the Steelers in the fifth-round of the 2007 NFL Draft out of Louisville, enters Monday night’s game against the San Diego Chargers with a consecutive games played in streak of 132. As far as cornerbacks around the league goes, it’s the longest active streak for the position.
Gay, who very rarely shows up on the Steelers injury report, has yet to miss a game since coming into the league and that speaks volumes about his durability.
