Former Pittsburgh Steelers’ defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau has been named one of three recipients of the Dr. Z Award by the Professional Football Writers of America.
The award is given to assistant coaches for their lifetime achievement in the league. It’s named after Paul Zimmerman, a Sports Illustrated writerfor 29 years until 2008. This is the second year the award has been given out.
LeBeau served as the Steelers’ defensive coordinator from 1995-1996 and 2004-2014. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2010.
