Pittsburgh Steelers running back DeAngelo Williams is following through on a promise he made to Charlotte months ago, and Pittsburgh could be next.
Williams on Saturday is hosting an event in Charlotte -- where he played nine seasons for the Panthers -- to provide women from low-income, non-insured or under-insured families with mammograms. In 2014, Williams' mother, Sandra Hill, died of breast cancer at age 53. Williams honors his mother's age with the number of tests.
Williams is the NFL's most outspoken champion for this cause, and in October he told ESPN he had planned on purchasing the 53 tests in Charlotte, and eventually in Pittsburgh.
