Before he became the president of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Dan Rooney attended Duquesne University. It was there Friday, a day shy of St. Patrick’s Day, that the university honored one of its most distinguished alumni with a day-long symposium.
“Slainte! Celebrating the Life and Legacy of Dan Rooney” explored in panel discussions Mr. Rooney’s impact on Pittsburgh, Ireland, the Catholic Church and the National Football League. Mr. Rooney died April 13.
The Steelers were prominent in the final two panel discussions of the day. Dan’s son, Jim, moderated a discussion featuring NFL executive vice president and general counsel Jeff Pash, journalist John Clayton and Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin.
