A day after charges were dropped against him in Fayette County for his involvement in a domestic violence incident earlier this month, Steelers linebacker Anthony Chickillo was given clearance by the NFL to return to the team.
Chickillo, 26, was removed from the Commissioner's Exempt List and by the NFL and activated by the Steelers Thursday morning. Linebacker Jayrone Elliott, who was signed last week when Chickillo was placed on the exempt list, was released.
Chickillo's status was in question after he was arrested Oct. 20 by state police on accusations that he assaulted his girlfriend, Alysha Newman, at Nemacolin Woodlands in Wharton Township.
