Despite drafting one on the first round in three of the past five years, the Steelers haven’t had an outside linebacker other than James Harrison lead the team in sacks since Jason Worilds had eight in 2013.
And they haven’t had a linebacker register double-digit sacks since Harrison had 10½ and Lamarr Woodley 10 in 2010, the last time they made it to the Super Bowl.
With so much emphasis placed on the position — the most important in a 3-4 defense — it has not been encouraging that Harrison, who is 39, has led all outside linebackers in sacks the past two years.
