The Pirates have already put their trade deadline plan into action with two trades over the past two days. On Saturday night, Pittsburgh's most valuable trade asset, José Quintana, turned in a superlative performance, leading the Pirates to a 1-0 victory over the Marlins.
Quintana shut the Marlins out for seven innings, allowing only four hits with no walks while striking out four. This is coming off two rough starts where Quintana surrendered 10 earned runs in just 9 1/3 total innings.
"He was really good," Derek Shelton said.
