The battle for the Pittsburgh Steelers’ third running back spot is ongoing, but one candidate for the role is Anthony McFarland Jr. McFarland has been with Pittsburgh since 2020, but played just one game in 2022 and spent the majority of the year on the practice squad. He signed a reserve/future contract with the Steelers this offseason, and he told Dale Lolley in a blog entry for Steelers.com that he knows the key to his future with Pittsburgh is special teams.
“That’s the only way I’m going to make this team is to be on special teams any way I can on special teams, whether it’s punt, kickoff.
