The Pittsburgh Steelers released RB Anthony McFarland Jr. yesterday to create a roster spot to help shore up some depth issues at other positions. No team claimed McFarland on waivers as he cleared, meaning he is now free to sign with any team. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported the news.
The Steelers do now have an open spot on their practice squad, as the team signed LB Kyron Johnson off the practice squad today. That means McFarland could circle back to Pittsburgh as familiar depth on the team’s practice squad.
Now in his fourth season in the league, McFarland has never made much of an impact for Pittsburgh.
