The Animal Rescue League is moving one of its largest fundraisers from Heinz Field in response to the Steelers' signing of Michael Vick to a one-year contract, the organization announced today.
The league's annual Paw Print gala will instead be held at the CONSOL Energy Center on Saturday, Oct. 31, a news release from the league said.
In addition, the league will no longer include Steelers' merchandise or memorabilia at this or any other function, the release said.
The league said it was "disheartened" by the Steelers' decision to sign Vick, who served time in federal prison for his involvement in an international dogfighting ring, and decided to move the venue after an internal discussion.
