Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert said earlier this week the team has not yet decided if the fifth-year option on Bud Durpee’s rookie contract will be exercised. Colbert has until May 3 to make that decision on the outside linebacker who has been held back by injuries and inconsistencies in his first three seasons.
The Steelers have exercised the option on three of the four players they drafted in the first round since the 2011 collective bargaining agreement stipulated that all rookie contracts would be for four years with an option for an additional year on first-round selections.
