2020 NFL Draft Player Profiles: Notre Dame RB Tony Jones Jr

The Good

-Powerful downhill runner with a thick frame
-Excels in short-yardage situations with downhill thumper mentality
-Big frame built to withstand heavy workload
-Good straight-line speed to rip off chunk runs
-Sound pass blocker with good punch and strong base to latch and win
-Limited wear and tear over three years at Notre Dame
-Has some surprising wiggle to his game in space

The Bad

-Vision leaves much to be desired at times
-Limited explosiveness in short area to win
-Consistency was a major problem; looks unstoppable one week, disappears the next
-Stop-start takes longer than normal for a back his size
-Struggled with conditioning early in ND career
-Needs a runway to get moving laterally

Bio

-Played in 38 career games at Notre Dame in three seasons, starting 15 of them
-Redshirted his freshman season
-Started all 12 games in 2019, rushing for 878 yards and six touchdowns on 144 carries.
