From now until the 2019 NFL Draft takes place, we hope to showcase as many prospects as possible and examine both their strengths and weaknesses. Most of these profiles will feature individuals that the Pittsburgh Steelers are likely to have an interest in, while a few others will be top-ranked players. If there is a player you would like us to analyze, let us know in the comments below.
#5 Terry Beckner, Jr / IDL Missouri – 6’4” 296
The Good
- Can be explosive at the snap
- Shows a quick swim to get around IOL and into the backfield
- Good burst when he finds a gap
- Strong rip vs IOL
- Punishing tackler accelerating through the ball carrier
The Bad
- Underachiever; has talent but doesn’t use it
- Pops up out of his stance at the snap exposing his chest and taking away his power
- Hands are very inactive after initial placement
- Will abort push/pass rush if he’s not seeing potential in making a play
- Doesn’t have a pass rush plan
- Low motor doesn’t make any effort on some plays and pursuit is generally poor unless chasing a QB out of the pocket
Bio
- Career – 120 tackles, 73 solo, 32 TFL, 13.
