2016 NFL Draft Player Profiles: Alabama DE A’Shawn Robinson

As you should know by now, our attention has now shifted to the 2016 NFL Draft as it relates to the prospects. From now until the draft takes place, we hope to profile as many draft prospects as we possibly can for you. Most of these player profiles will be centered around prospects the Pittsburgh Steelers are likely to have interest in.

Breakdown of Alabama defensive linemen A’Shawn Robinson.

#86 – A’Shawn Robinson/DL Alabama: 6035, 307

The Good

– Good understanding of when to get his hands up, use his monstrous wingspan
– Consistent leg-drive on bullrush, collapses pocket
– Hurrying pass rush, doesn’t allow OL time to set feet
– Strong, athletic specimen (hopped over FG line to block extra point)
– Still raw and over-reliant on athleticism
– Active feet and footwork to constantly gain ground

The Bad

– Three-point stance looks disjointed with back feet too far up, limits his explosion
– When bursting off the line of scrimmage, feet placement is too far extended behind him, can’t generate force in first two steps
– Can get sucked too far downhill with outside responsibilities, likes to slice outside of play design
– Balance questionable off toolbox moves
– Effort questions?
