The NFL Draft is approaching quickly. The national attention is starting to turn away from free agency and towards the draft since free agency is wrapping up and the draft is less than one month away. We've already put together a full first round mock draft, and now we have a three round mock just for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Steelers are coming off a playoff berth, but have needs at several positions. The Steelers added a few players in free agency, and will likely target the defensive side of the ball often in the draft. With that in mind, here is the Steelers' 3 Round 2016 NFL Mock Draft.
Round 1, Pick No. 25: William Jackson, CB, Houston
Corner is a huge need for the Steelers and Jackson is a worthy of a first round pick. The Steelers will likely go defense in Round 1, and Jackson could easily be the pick if he's on the board. Pittsburgh has neglected the CB position for too long and need young talent. Don't be surprised if Jackson goes earlier than this on draft day. Round 2, Pick No. 58: Kentrell Brothers, ILB, Missouri
Ryan Shazier is solid at one inside linebacker spot, but the Steelers need someone to eventually replace Lawrence Timmons. He's regressing and is a free agent after this season. This is the proper range for Brothers, although there is no guarantee he'll still be on the board. He'd be a good fit next to Shazier. Adding some more defensive line help or targeting a safety here is an option.
Round 3, Pick No. 89: Miles Killebrew, S, Southern Utah
The Steelers tried to get Eric Weddle, but weren't able to land him. The team still needs safety help, and they'll likely take someone in this year's draft, possibly early. Killebrew is a strong safety and will be best in the box at the next level. He's a borderline linebacker/safety hybrid, much like the Cardinals Deone Bucannon. While Killebrew needs some work and this might be a bit high for him, he has the potential to be a quality starter in the NFL.
