Jason Zucker underwent surgery to repair a core muscle injury on Tuesday, the Penguins announced.
The surgery was performed by Dr. William Meyers of the Vincera Institute in Philadelphia.
Zucker is currently sidelined on a week-to-week basis. The team expects to have a better idea of a timetable for Zucker's return in the coming days.
Zucker is on long-term injured reserve.
Zucker missed six practices in the month of December with what were called "maintenance days" at the time, before being declared "week-to-week" with a lower-body injury on Dec. 27. He began skating on his own on Jan.
