The Pittsburgh Pirates have sent right-handed pitcher Yoervis Medina to Indianapolis after he cleared waivers. He was designated for assignment on January 19th when the Pirates picked up pitcher A.J. Schugel off waivers from the Mariners. The Pirates picked up Medina just over a month ago after he was DFA'd by the Chicago Cubs.
Keeping Medina allows the Pirates to have more depth at Indianapolis for their bullpen. If they can get him back to the pitcher who posted a 2.93 ERA in 63 appearances for the Mariners in 2013, and a 2.68 ERA in 66 games the following season, he will be back in Pittsburgh some time during the 2016 season.
