Chris Stewart returned from the 10-day disabled list Sunday, but, in a way, he’s still restricted. Because his hamstring injury occurred May 30 while legging out his second triple this season — the only triples he’s collected in his career — manager Clint Hurdle informed the 35-year-old Stewart he’d be barred from trying for third base.
“We've shut down the triples, eliminated that one,” Stewart said Sunday. “So the home run trot, I've got to get used to that because I'm going to hit a lot of them now.”
Stewart has nine home runs in his 11-year Major League career, and only one since 2013.
