Winter Leagues: Tsung-Che Cheng is Off to a Quick Start in Puerto Rico

Related Topics: Puerto Rico, Pittsburgh Pirates

Slow day around winter ball, as the leagues in Colombia and the Dominican were off, plus there are no more Pittsburgh Pirates playing in Venezuela, and the Sydney Blue Sox (aka Pirates south) don’t start their three-day weekend of games until today. We still have some action from Puerto Rico, as well as two players from Mexico. Here’s the recap.

In Puerto Rico, Tsung-Che Cheng went 1-for-4 with a triple, two runs, two RBIs, a walk and his first stolen base. The 21-year-old shortstop has a .313 average and a .921 OPS in five games.

Will Matthiessen made his first start (as the DH) and he went 0-for-4 with a walk and a run scored.
