LOS ANGELES — Ready or not, the starting job now belongs to Trevor Williams. The rookie right-hander inherited a rotation spot when fellow starter Jameson Taillon underwent surgery for suspected testicular cancer and, according to manager Clint Hurdle, Williams will remain there.
“We're going to see what he can make of it,” Hurdle said before Monday’s game.
Williams’ father, Richard, who last September earned Internet acclaim for his emotional reaction to his son’s first major league win, sat eight rows behind home plate Monday night at Dodger Stadium. He held a scorebook and recorded each ball and strike, each batter and baserunner.
