Union proposes 70-game season to MLB

One day after receiving an offer for a 60-game season at full prorated pay, the Major League Baseball players association countered with a 70 game proposal Thursday.

Jeff Passan and Jesse Rogers of ESPN were first with the report.

The length of the season appears to be the last issue MLB and the union still have to hammer out. Commissioner Rob Manfred and Tony Clark met privately Tuesday and Wednesday, forming what Manfred called the "framework" for an agreement.

The league agreed to pay players their full prorated salaries, and in exchange, the players association would waive the right to file a billion-dollar grievance against the league.
