One day after receiving an offer for a 60-game season at full prorated pay, the Major League Baseball players association countered with a 70 game proposal Thursday.
"We believe this offer represents the basis for an agreement on resumption of play," MLBPA executive director Tony Clark said in a released statement.
The owners, however, disagree, and the union's rejection of Wednesday's offer is not being well received.
The length of the season is one of the final issues MLB and the union still have to hammer out. Commissioner Rob Manfred and Clark met privately Tuesday and Wednesday, forming what Manfred called the "framework" for an agreement.
