Turner had image of Roddey as Braves manager

TurnerWhether in business or in politics or just in everyday places where he could get a laugh, up to and including the Pittsburgh Improv, Jim Roddey graced the public stage around here for most of 40 years.

But Friday is his last day as chairman of the Allegheny County Republican Committee, just one of about 500 corporate, political, and civic entities that vastly improved their prospects once Roddey got his hands on them, most notably in his groundbreaking turn-of-the-century gig as the first County Executive, but the question remains.

I mean the big question.

Could he have done the same for the 1977 Atlanta Braves?
