Trevor Williams thought he was turning it around Wednesday. He worked around two hits to pitch a scoreless first inning, retired the side in the second and got two groundouts in the third before trouble hit.
Two two-out walks ensured the third inning would be his last of the night.
“I really just lost it to two hitters,” Williams said. “I thought I was doing fine, I thought I was attacking the zone well and we were getting weak contact and groundouts. I just lost it to two hitters.”
After Williams gave up four runs in three innings Wednesday, he has allowed 17 runs and 24 hits in 18 innings during his past four starts.
